The Four Books, as set down by Zhu Xi, are the Analects of Confucius (J: Rongo, C: Lún Yǔ), the Great Learning (C: Dà xué), the Doctrine of the Mean (C: Zhōng yōng), and the writings of Mencius (C: Mèngzǐ).
